Zac Efron has a new leading lady. His High School Musical sweetheart Vanessa Hudgens is still his real life girlfriend, but newcomer Amanda Crew takes on the role of Efron’s onscreen love in the romantic drama Charlie St. Cloud. This is a big break for the Canadian born Crew, who has only been in the acting business for about four years. When she hit the red carpet for the movie’s Hollywood premiere, Crew proved that she’s certainly got star style, wearing L’Wren Scott’s sexy tuxedo sequin dress for the occasion.

“By the time Zac and I shot the kissing scenes we’d already become really good friends so I wasn’t nervous,” Crew told us when we asked what it was like to lock lips with Efron. “In the movie it looks like this romantic thing, but when you’re filming there’s lights everywhere, a bunch of people watching and a camera in your face. It’s hardly a heated moment!”

Non-profit organization To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) will host a free advance screening of Universal Pictures’ “Charlie St. Cloud,” starring Zac Efron, on Wednesday July 28, in Melbourne, FL, it was announced today. The special screening will be held for TWLOHA supporters before the film opens nationwide on July 30.

TWLOHA has created an evening that will share hope, help and community. “We want our supporters to feel celebrated and special,” said TWLOHA founder and Melbourne Beach native Jamie Tworkowski. “We want to give them a taste of what a film premiere is like, and we love that we’re able to make this happen in Melbourne.”

“Charlie St. Cloud” deals with letting go and starting over, themes related to TWLOHA’s mission of presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. As it does at its annual HEAVY AND LIGHT event in Orlando, TWLOHA plans to give every attendee information that points to local counseling and treatment resources. In addition, there will be speakers, TWLOHA merchandise available and a chance to meet the TWLOHA Team.

Reserve your tickets by emailing charlie@twloha.com with the name of each person in your party. An adult must accompany children under 13. Tickets may be picked up the day of the movie. You will need ID to pick up your tickets. If tickets are not picked up by 7PM, tickets will be given out on a first come-first serve basis.

Amanda Crew lets out a hearty laugh as she recalls her screen test with costar Zac Efron. The 23-year-old actress shared with ET about her screen test and the scene, “I didn’t want to be presumptuous. I knew that he has a girlfriend and I didn’t have a job yet. So when it came to [the kiss] we would just kind of nuzzle. Burr [Steers, director] came over to just give me some notes to try some stuff so I asked him, ‘You know, is it okay, how does he feel if I actually kiss him? Because I feel that that’s what the scene is missing.”

“Burr tells me, ‘You’re the only one who hasn’t kissed him.’ Everyone else who auditioned just went for it. I was like, ‘Oh-kay.’”
